in the crisp and clear autumn of october, the school held an opening ceremony for the 2024 international students on october 30, international students as well as teachers from the international student teaching and management team attended the ceremony. the ceremony was hosted by zhang min, deputy secretary of the party of the school of international education.
vice president, zheng jun delivered a speech at the opening ceremony for the international students. he extended warm congratulations and sincere welcome to all the 2024 international students, introduced the achievements the university had made in bringing in and going out, and put forward four expectations for the new students. firstly, he hoped that the international students could learn chinese well and master professional knowledge; secondly, he expected them to enrich their international student life and actively participate in activities both on and off campus; thirdly, he wished they could abide by laws and regulations to ensure a safe and smooth study abroad; and fourthly, he encouraged international students to engage in friendly exchanges and become witnesses, builders, and communicators of friendly exchanges between china and foreign countries. after that, zheng jun presented the school badge to the representative of the international students and gifted them the school mascot haibao, representing the school's care and blessings.
wang shuixiang, a student from laos and a representative of the new students, spoke on behalf of the freshmen, expressing her joy at being able to study at jiangsu maritime institute and her beautiful expectations for her international student life. lu an, an international student from the 2023 intake, shared his successful learning experience and life experiences during his stay at the school, encouraging all international students to cherish the valuable learning opportunities and strive to realize their dreams. shen yun, secretary of the party of school of international education, and wu wenfeng, the deputy director of the student affairs office, jointly issued certificates of appointment to the head teachers of the new students. by quoting the famous saying, “those who know it are not as good as those who like it; those who like it are not as good as those who take delight in it”, ms. yu lu, the head teacher, encouraged the students to cherish their learning time, build their love for learning, acquire learning skills, study hard, and apply what they have learned to practice.
